August 2012 Goals—Review

The months keep flying by and I don’t seem to be accomplishing many of my goals. Overall, for my August goals, I only achieved 55% of them, isn’t that like an F? I’m sure things will settle down after we get into our new house, or not.:

Financial Goals: 4/5 (80%)

#1 Contribute $25.00 to our Roth IRA each paycheck. PASS (still on track)
#2 Save $1,000.00 in our new House Fund. PASS (Between saving 50% over our root income, leftovers and our pretend mortgage & bills, we saved $2,133.40 in August for our house fund. It’s hard, but way worth the sacrifices.)
#3 Come up with a plan to save lots of money. PASS (I sure did. :-) Feel free to check out my plan to save lots of money if you haven’t already.)
#4 Automatically transfer 50% over our Root Income right to savings from each paycheck this month. PASS (Yep, for the first check, we transferred $238.32 and the second check, we transferred $293.05 for a total of $531.57)
#5 Look into more retirement investing options. FAIL (I just didn’t find the time this month.)

Blogging Goals: 6/8 (75%)

#1 Install CommentLuv to reward the bloggers who comment. PASS
#2 Try out Rafflecopter for my 2nd Blogiversary giveaway. Everybody seems to love it, so I figured I’d give it a shot. PASS (I’m currently using it for my giveaway, but haven’t done the moderation or chosen winners yet, so we’ll see how that goes.)
#3 Helping others: Tweet at least 40 great posts I find on other blogs. PASS (I did really great this month, it was more like 80 posts I shared.)
#4 Helping others: Retweet at least 10 tweets I like. FAIL (I only retweeted 9, I was so close.)
#5
Find an additional way to reward for comments. Maybe one of those widgets that keeps track of who leaves the most comments. PASS (I went with the top commentators plug-in widget and am loving it so far.)
#6
Get some (even if it’s just a little) work done on fixing my weird site structure. FAIL (Been busy as a bee, but not enough time to work on this at all.)
#7
Manually (I know there are plug-ins for it, but they continue to lie to me) check every single outgoing link I’ve posted. PASS (It only took me about an hour, but I ended up finding over 20 broken links even though the “broken link checker” plug-in said there weren’t any. I told you it was lying to me. )
#8
Create a blog roll. PASS (It took me 2 years to do it, but it’s finally done. It’s small for now, but at least it’s a start.)

Personal Goals: 0/5 (0%)

#1 Start keeping a food journal again. FAIL (I suck. I wrote down my breakfast, once. That was it.)
#2 Create some kind of schedule for all my blogging tasks. FAIL (My brain just wasn’t working this month.)
#3 Go 1 day without touching my laptop or my iPadFAIL (I think this one is going to have to wait until after we close on the house. Between emails from our lender, realtor and insurance places, I can’t really afford to reply a day late right now.)
#4 Read 3 or more books this month. FAIL (What’s a book? I can’t even remember the last time I sat down and read a book.)
#5 Exercise at least 10 times in August. FAIL (Big fat ZERO. It’s funny because my parent’s house has a workout room with lots of equipment in it, but I just keep the door closed.)

How did you do on your goals? Hopefully way better than I did. ;-)

  1. You’re a solid C+ on everything except personal goals. It’s hard to take care or yourself when you have all that other stuff to do. Get a book and read it while you work out in your parents work out room. Two at once!
