Creating a Website To Increase Your Earnings

Over the last decade, more and more people have turned to the World Wide Web to earn additional income. Whether passive or consuming, there are many various ways to utilize the internet to earn money.

It doesn’t take a lot of knowledge to create a small, simple website or blog these days. There are resources out there.

It sure beats taking the time to learn everything yourself in the beginning  Sometimes just getting started is the way to go. You can always invest the time later on to learn things as they come up or to slowly educate yourself.

Places like W3 School have various resources for learning html, css, javascript and more…but it takes time and patience to learn some of these things.

Brick & Mortar

Even small local businesses can use the internet to increase their earning potential. For example, there is a small postal/print shop where I live. After searching online to find one in the area, all I came up with were yellow page listings.

With the monstrous amounts of information available online, I was surprised that I couldn’t learn more about this business, their offerings and their prices through a web page. Doesn’t every business have a website?

How could a small brick and mortar business benefit from having a simple online presence?

  • Local searches could bring visitors to their site, not just a listing.
  • Listing their products/services and prices could save both the business and the potential client time. Instead of having to call in and ask about these things, the user could find all the information they need to make an informed decision from the web site.
  • Enhanced communications with current customers. The business could use an online newsletter to send offers, news and other information to their current and prospective customers. This could reduce costs for the business if they are currently sending out information using regular mail.
  • They could add a blog section to their site to post offers, news and other information as well as reply to the comments left by customers.
  • Offer coupons online to drive business through new customers as well as current.
  • Include a contact us page with either a online contact form or a email address. Not everybody enjoys talking on phone anymore theses days. Offering another avenue for communication is pretty much necessary in today’s digital world.

New Online Businesses

Of course you don’t have to have a physical business to have a web site. Many new businesses are being started online everyday. All you need is an idea, patience, the drive and a few bucks to start an online business.

Some online businesses can take off quickly, but many others require quite the time investment to see any sign of future success. Which is one of the reasons so many new online businesses fail; they expect everyone to automatically know of their new business and flock to it. When that doesn’t happen, they throw in the towel just as quickly as they jumped on the idea in the first place.

The great thing about an online business is that you have so many options. Do you want to sell physical products, digital products, your services, create a niche site, blog? The possibilities are endless when you really think about it.

But in the end, the most important thing to remember about starting a new online business is that it isn’t always easy. More often than not, it will take longer than you planned as well as much more work than initially expected. Still, if you make it far enough, the benefits can greatly outweigh the cost.

Creating a Website To Increase Your Earnings — 6 Comments

  1. It’s a great point that you can earn money from a website even if it’s not a blog. Huddle’s research suggests that even if you sell tires, you should just have a blog to generate traffic to your business and that businesses with a blog grow something crazy like 50% faster. Ironically you can find out a lot of that interesting stuff on their blog 😉

  2. I love w3 schools, but I think that the internet is not as easy for a passive income as we might think. It is certainly good at enhancing income, as I myself am I firm believer in looking up companies online before checking out their services most of the time. I just think that even if you have a blog or a website, unless you are selling something really interesting, there is no promise that people will come your way.
