Earn Money From Your Unused Items

Almost everybody I know has unused items just sitting around their house or stored in a garage or closet. Why do we keep things we know that we will probably never use again?

Does it have sentimental value? Does it feel like it would be a waste of all the good money you spent on it? Are we hoarding? Do we like to collect stuff? Do we have so much extra storage place that we’re trying to fill it all up?

Whatever the reason, people do it…myself included.

Some of the things we hang onto can bring in some extra cash if we ever need it or if we’re trying to build up an emergency fund.

For instance, say the new iPhone came out and I prefer to keep all the old models for some strange reason. If I bought the new iPhone, I could go to and sell an older edition to help offset the cost. Or save it, use the money to pay off debt (which I no longer have), or do something fun for once.

People like to buy other people’s stuff, it happens all the time. So why not cash in on your unused stuff and enjoy the free space and extra dough?

What kind of unused items are sitting around your house?

  1. This article reminds me of my mom, although she never seems to get rid of her used items. Sometimes it is better to sell used items sooner rather than later before they entirely lose their value. I completely agree with your philosophy here.

  2. We all have some stuff we don’t need or we don’t use. If you gather these items and sell them instead of throwing them in the garbage or leaving them unsued, I believe you can make yourself some good money !

  3. I’ve been selling alot of my used stuff on Craigslist. Good way to free up space and recoup some cash.

  4. I need to sell a lot of stuff because recently we moved into a small home so we can rent out one of our larger homes. Now, I have a bunch of stuff that doesn’t look right and makes everything look tight and cluttered. I hate selling my décor and furniture though because I like the stuff! Oh, what to do!

  5. You’ve undoubtedly heard the saying “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, and it could be quite possible to earn quite a bit of money while uncluttering your home.

  6. Most of the people are just too attached to their stuff and don’t even want to think about disposing it off. However each month I make it a point to either give away or sell some of the items that I no longer use.
