My Goals 4 September 2011

Goals
Last month didn’t go so well, so hopefully this month will go much better. I’m going to make a note to review my goals daily, something that is very helpful in achieving goals and staying focused.

Get my Alexa ranking under 450,000.

Submit a post to at least one blog carnival each week.

Limit dining out to once per paycheck.

Contribute $50 or more to our Roth IRA.

Contribute $20 or more to our Betterment account.

Figure out exactly when our promotional period with Comcast ends to avoid a ginormous bill.

Gather all donations, photograph and record amounts to apply toward my donation goal for this year. (this was a FAIL last month)

Get the Evil Credit Card balance under $840.00.

Do the Inbox Dollars toolbar searches every day this month.

Return the iPod case I got last month that was too small.

Non Personal Finance Related Goals:

Lose 7 pounds this month.

Work on one of my unfinished paintings. We’ve been in our current apartment for a year and a half now and I haven’t painted at all. I don’t actually have any drawing or painting talent, but it’s still fun to try, it’s also very relaxing for me.

Take Roxy (our baby puppy) for 4 evening walks.

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” by Les Brown

Please feel free to leave your monthly goals in the comments, then we can see how we all did when the month is over. How fun!

My Goals 4 September 2011 — 12 Comments

  1. 1. Lose another 10 pounds.
    2. Send my book proposal to my agent.
    3. Exercise twice a week, get back into it now it’s cooler.

  2. I find the goals I have control over easier to achieve than some of the others. For example, I added days of exercise, become more patient, but improving my ranking to reach my goal is a bit more elusive. My goal by year end is to be in the WiseBread 100.

    • That make sense. It looks like you’re at 333 now and have moved up 2 spots since they last updated it. How will you get in the top 100? Is there anything I can do to help out?

I’m not even on their list. :-(

  3. I started putting my monthly goals on my site. Then each Monday morning make my monthly goals and to dos that will work toward the monthlies, and then each day I make my daily to dos that work towards the weekly. Helps me to break it all down and then easier to meet the goals.

    • That sounds like a great way to break things down. :-) I usually try to do at least one thing per day toward achieving my ‘big picture’ goals.

  4. I always post monthly mini goals on my site, August was a bust, so I’m really determined to complete them all this month!

    Good luck!

  5. I have really got to start having monthly goals. Usually when I sit down to write them, it ends up looking like this:

    1. Get through the month with finances and sanity in tact

Then I get stuck. Maybe I’ll try for October.

    • lol. Goal setting can sometimes be tricky, it gets easier with practice. I hope you’re able to set some goals in October Jana. :-)

  6. I love that you put your goals up! Scary isn’t it??! I joined up with another blogger- Simply Rebekah for her “Insane Goals Link Up” each month so I am compelled to post my goals and stay accountable! Yarg!

How do you like Betterment? I’ve been thinking of signing up with them but have been hesitant- I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

    • Scary when I don’t achieve them. :-) Personally, I need accountability, otherwise I just procrastinate. I’ll have to check out your goals soon.

So far I like Betterment; I’m going for a longer term investment strategy. It’s way easy and nice to not really have to worry about it.
