Our Car Needed a Tire

Our rear driver side tire was a complete mess. It was bulging and made the entire car shake while driving. Something had to be done. Since we only have the one car, that meant ASAP. So my Honey only had one day off, and we had to get the new tire that day. There wasn’t much time to shop around, so I’m sure we didn’t get the best deal. :-( We ended up going to Les Schwab and the price for 1 tire was $88.79 which included putting it on and such. That’s almost a hundred bucks, I wasn’t happy.

Thankfully, we just received a $50 Visa prepaid card in the mail. We earned this from US Bank, for reaching the goal balance of $1,000 with their START program. It is a special kind of savings account where you earn a $50 Visa prepaid card when your savings account balance reaches $1,000; then one more $50 card if you keep that $1,000 in there for 12 months. The interest for US Bank savings accounts totally sucks, but the $50 Visa prepaid card totally makes up for it.

Anyway, back on topic. We ended up using the $50 Visa prepaid card toward the new tire. Here’s how it worked out:

Tire $88.79
Used Visa prepaid card $50.00

Total $38.79

So much better than paying close to ninety bucks for a silly little tire. Having this Visa prepaid card sure saved our butts. If you don’t want to try out the START program at US Bank, there are still other ways to earn the Visa prepaid cards:

MyPoints has $25 and $50 prepaid cards

Cash Crate has a $100 prepaid card

MyView has $25, $50, $75 and $100 prepaid cards
