Notes: I know the grocery spending looks crazy, but I did a little stocking up. I got 16 boxes of cereal, which should last quite a few months and also some other stuff that was on sale. I’m hoping that we won’t need to spend much more on groceries next week so that I don’t exceed what we usually spend.

The gas spending was a little nuts too, we did some additional driving that we really shouldn’t have done (more on that later). I’m hoping to be really tight next week so that I can put a lot into savings. *crossing my fingers* 😉 I hope you had a great week with your spending.

How did your budgeting/spending go this week?

  1. 3 days without spending, that’s impressive! I noticed you went to Olive Garden, I really miss Olive Garden. We use to have a couple in Toronto and then all of sudden I noticed they were closing down. I guess Canadians don’t really like Olive! Now I have to go to the states if I want me some Olive Garden.

    • Yep, we went to the Olive Garden for our anniversary (not the wedding one). It must really suck having to go to another country for a super yummy dinner. :-(

  2. I know you know this already, but the cigarettes are really taking a bite. You used to get a tax break for using stop smoking aids (and I think health insurance pays for it now). I smoked for years and then did the gum for 6 years! I’m so glad I finally got off both – with all the taxes on tobacco products now. It is unreal how much they cost. You’ll save later on down the road on medical bills too!

    • Yep, cigarettes are the devil. :-) I’m just not ready to quit yet, maybe after I’m done losing weight because it’ll be easier then. I couldn’t imagine paying for gum 6 years after quitting, that’s really gotta suck. :-(

I have quit before when I was pregnant, but I just cut down really quick and then stopped. I didn’t use the patch or gum, so it was nice to not have the expense. Hopefully when I do quit, I can do it the same way (without getting pregnant) and save money.

      • Good for you for not needing the gum. Not only was it expensive and somewhat disgusting, but it cracked several of my teeth – resulting in the need for expensive caps (who says you can’t take it with you!)

      • I agree, cigarette spending looks worse that grocery spending up there. If you don’t quit (yet) is there a chance you’d smoke less daily?

        • It’s actually funny because I’ve been trying to cut down a little bit, but I end up smoking even more than usual. I don’t know why.
