I Found a Beer Rebate at Walmart—How Cool is That?

Coors Rebate FormI haven’t shopped at Walmart in forever but the other day, I decided to give it another shot. I figured buying our groceries at Walmart must be cheaper than getting them at Fred Meyer. Yes and no, some of the stuff I normally buy was definitely cheaper than I normally get it for but other stuff was *gasp* more expensive at Walmart. I was really surprised.

I had planned to grab a few other things while I was there, like new slippers, socks for my honey and a couple household items. I was able to find a pair of slippers for around 12 bucks, which is more than I’d planned to spend but they were super comfy and pink. I also was able to find some Hanes socks for around 9 bucks for a bonus pack of 12 pairs—2 free pairs is always fun. So I ended up grabbing 2 packs of those; my honey goes through socks like crazy. Yada, yada, yada…I know you probably don’t care what I got.

Anyways, on to the rebate I found. I was walking toward the grocery section and saw this huge end-cap of beer and thought “my honey sure drinks a lot of beer.” Then I noticed the huge tear pads all over the place; I had to check them out. SCORE! I could get a $25 rebate back if my total purchase (of everything, not just the beer) was $100 or more and I bought at least one 12-pack or larger or Coors beer. I’d already planned to spend about $50 or so on groceries, had about $20 worth of socks and about another $20 between slippers and other stuff. That would bring me right around 90 bucks, add in a case of beer and I’m good to go.

I knew my honey would end up buying beer again soon, so why shouldn’t I take advantage and get $25 back (especially when the beer is around 19 bucks and they give me an extra $6)? I was so happy that I noticed it. The last day for the rebate is today, so I’m going to make sure I send it off soon. I haven’t done a rebate since back in April, unless I’ve forgotten to post about it—but I don’t think so. 😉

If I had went to Walmart just for groceries and planned to spend $50, then this wouldn’t have been as logical. Some people tend to spend more to get these kinds of rebates, so make sure it really makes sense to you first.

Do you ever take advantage of these kind of rebates?

  1. I always think that too, than I think well I am at Walmart wonder what they are thinking about me :)

    • Yeah, it’s like a regular Walmart but has an entire grocery section too. I guess they call it a Super-Center or something similar.

  2. I have not been to Walmart for a few months now. I have never seen a coupon dispenser/tear pad in my Walmart though, on the other hand, if it was for beer, I know it would have been gone in 1 hr…

  3. The husband gets slippers and beer? Fantastic win for him.

I have seen Bud do a rebate (for their purchase only) but I never end up doing, just so lazy cause it is usually like 2 bucks!

    • Slippers are for me because my puppy pissed in my other ones. Beer and socks are for the husband—he already has slippers. Yeah, I don’t think I would do a rebate for only 2 bucks either, it’s too close to the price of the stamp.

    • Yeah, I was pretty stoked. :-) Oh, I know all about their crazy parking but it’s the price you gotta pay if you’re wanting to shop there. The checkout lane are always packed at the stores in my area, usually I have to wait about 30 minutes in line. There’s like 20-30 registers but there are only 2 or 3 open at a time.

  4. Wow, a rebate for BEER? I am totally a beer snob (I love me a good microbrew) and this is quite an interesting tactic…a rebate for BEER? I still can’t wrap my brain around this! I’m not sure if Coors is getting creative or desperate. All I know is that I’d really like a cold one right now! :)

    • It’s pretty cool. Most people plan to but never end up sending them in (aside from couponers) so they still probably come out ahead. 😉

  5. beer is not 19 dollars for a 12 pack of coors…..women… more like 15 dollars for an 18 rack
