Money & Goals: Weekly Update #2

Weekly Spending:

Well, we honestly didn’t spend much money at all this last week. Not as awesome when it’s because we didn’t really have any. lol

Yeah, we spent most of the paycheck (bi-weekly) last week. That’s when all the main expenses come out anyway, so it’s not so bad.

The only extra thing we purchased this last paycheck was some ant bait/poison stuff (tons of great reviews btw) from Amazon. Those stupid ants keep sneaking into our house and driving me mad.

I hate ants and I hate wearing shoes and slippers whenever my feet touch the ground. Yes, I’m that ridiculous that I’d avoid stepping on ants barefoot or even in socks. We all have our issues.

On top of that, last night I discovered there were ants in our couch. Yuck! We’re really clean, so I don’t get it. Although we do eat on the couch and have had problems with ants in the kitchen, bathroom and garage since we moved in. I can’t wait to be rid of them.

I just have a really bad feeling that there is a massive ant hill under our house. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Entire Payperiod:

Income: $1,347.72
Pre-tax 401k contributions (1%): $18.00
Roth IRA contributions: $25.00
Saved for car insurance: $25.00
Other Savings: $64.14

Goals:

2013 Goals Progress:

Goal #1 Save up the cash for a 2nd Car

weekly savings goal update 2

We were only able to put $14.14 into our savings for the 2nd car this last week, thanks to leftovers. It’s a little disappointing, but it’s better than nothing.

Saving small amounts will still get us there, just not as quickly. Hopefully I will be able to make some extra money this month to make up for it. The sooner we get to our goal, the sooner I can stop being trapped at home. Must. Save. Money.

Goal #2 Minimize, Digitize, Organize and Go Paperless

Aside from how I did on my mini goal for last week, I also decided to do some organizing. This organizing I decided to do, consisted of standing in front of the office closet with the door open and staring. Just staring.

I stood there are just stared for like 45 minutes. I could not come up with a solution for the wretched closet. Maybe I need to focus on continuing the minimize part first, then we will only be left with the important stuff.

Okay, I’ll admit that I did go back and stare at it a couple of other times, but not as long as the first. Only 5 minutes or so each time. It’s just overwhelming.

Goal #3 Take Time For Myself

Overall, I really sucked with this. I didn’t make any progress at all until yesterday, the last day to complete the goals. I don’t know why, that’s just how it went down.

Nonetheless, I took a lot of time for myself…probably close to 2 hours. That is unheard of for me. It was nice though, I had an awesome workout, painted my nails and took the puppy for a nice walk. Good stuff. Hopefully next week I’ll do this more than once. haha

Last week’s mini goals:

1) Have at least $5 (preferably more) in leftovers to add to the car goal. SUCCESS $14.14
2) Paint my fingernails. I haven’t painted them in close to 2 months and it’s getting kind of boring. No going out and getting a manicure though, must save money and do it at home. SUCCESS
3) Check into the photo books like I mentioned above. SUCCESS
4) Scan at least 10 items (most likely papers) OOPS!
5) Read at least 1 chapter in a fun book. SUCCESS

Mini goals for this week:

1) Scan 10 items
2) Earn some money to add to car goal
3) Read another chapter (or more)
4) Cook mini-meatloaves and try freezing them
5) Take new photos of backyard for Facebook

How did you do last week?
Are you working toward any goals?

Money & Goals: Weekly Update #2 — 2 Comments

    • Good luck saving to buy a house, Lydia. :-) Just be sure that you have money set aside for things to go wrong. We had to pay over $2,000 to replace 1 little piece of sewer pipe a week or two after moving in. I’m so glad that we had money set aside for that.
