Buried Alive: digging yourself outta debt (step 4)

help!

Taphephobia- the fear of being buried alive

If you’ve made it to step 4 then you’re well on your way. You’ve been honest with yourself about how much debt you really have (step 1), you’ve taken steps to reduce that debt (step 2) and figured out how much you can realistically afford to pay (step 3). Getting started is always the hardest part and now you’re ready to take another step towards being debt-free.

Step 4- Quicker

With most debt comes interest charges, more money they want you to pay them. As if you’re not already owing them enough! So, the sooner you can pay off the debt, the less money you’ll end up paying in the long run.

Last time, we talked about increasing income and reducing expenses to achieve a sooner departure from Debtland. Now, we get creative.

Is there anything you can sell online to make some extra cash, a possible yard sale in your future? If you have things you can sell, it might be worth consideration. It might be hard to part with anything at all, but after you’re all financially responsible and such, maybe you could slowly replace those things (if you’re still crazy about them later).

Are you willing to do a few things here and there to make some extra money online? It’s not too difficult to make an extra $50 a month online if you have a little spare time. Some of my favorite places to do so are: Swagbucks, Inbox Dollars, Cash Crate, Opinion Outpost, MySurvey and BeRuby. None of them are difficult and each can start bringing in some extra dough to help you pay off your debt quicker.

Actions to take:

  • Take an open-minded look around your home and decide if there’s anything you can part with.
  • If you were successful with the last action, get to selling so you can plump up those payments.
  • Decide if you’re interested in earning some money online and if so, get started. You can check out my Earn It page for more information about some great places.

After completing this 4th step, I’d say you’re at 40% of digging yourself outta debt (assuming you’ve completed the previous steps). Congrats! You’re getting closer with each action. :-)  Want to gain another 10%…look for Step 5 coming soon.
