August 2012 Goals

August 2012 Goals

Financial Goals:

  1. Contribute $25.00 to our Roth IRA each paycheck.
  2. Save $1,000.00 in our new House Fund.
  3. Come up with a plan to save lots of money.
  4. Automatically transfer 50% over our Root Income right to savings from each paycheck this month.
  5. Look into more retirement investing options.

Blogging Goals:

  1. Install CommentLuv to reward the bloggers who comment.
  2. Try out Rafflecopter for my 2nd Blogiversary giveaway. Everybody seems to love it, so I figured I’d give it a shot.
  3. Helping others: Tweet at least 40 great posts I find on other blogs.
  4. Helping others: Retweet at least 10 tweets I like.
  5. Find an additional way to reward for comments. Maybe one of those widgets that keeps track of who leaves the most comments.
  6. Get some (even if it’s just a little) work done on fixing my weird site structure.
  7. Manually (I know there are plug-ins for it, but they continue to lie to me) check every single outgoing link I’ve posted.
  8. Create a blog roll. I should have done this a long time ago, but never got around to it. Apparently some blogs trade blog roll links—I should look into this. Still, I’ll only link to blogs I like—whether or not they reciprocate…isn’t that the point anyway? It would of course be really awesome if my favorite blogs linked back though…we’ll see.

Personal Goals:

  1. Start keeping a food journal again, the last 2 months I stopped and gained weight each month. Coincidence? Not at all. If I can do it for a week straight, I’ll get back into the habit.
  2. Create some kind of schedule for all my blogging tasks. Right now, I spend WAY too much time on blogging and all the other stuff that goes with it. It feels like it’s all I’m doing.
  3. Go 1 day without touching my laptop or my iPad. Not sure if I can do this on purpose or not, but it’s worth a shot.
  4. Read 3 or more books this month, so I don’t completely screw up on one of my 2012 goals.
  5. Exercise at least 10 times in August. I feel so much better when I do, it’s just hard getting back into the flow, especially when you live in somebody else’s house.

Please feel free to leave your monthly goals in the comments, then we can see how we all did when the month is over.

  1. Looks like a good list of goals to tackle. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about the blogging goals. For checking your blog for broken links, I recommend you download Xenu. It is free and seems to do a good job of finding broken links. Manually checking all your links would take way too long.

  2. Awesome goals! I’m into journaling, though I now do it as more of a spiritual (not religious) thing than a documentation of my day to day actions. It’s a book of reflections for me to look back on, but I need to do it more often for sure.

  3. I’m looking the new look!

You should check out the plugin “Broken Link Checker.” It has worked really well for identifying broken links. It schedules link-checks and I usually find out the day a link goes bad.

Also, nice to see you included the CommentLuv plugin! I think there’s a box that makes it so that others can select one of their last 5 posts instead of just their most recent; it’s pretty useful.

    • Thanks Will. :-)

I’ve actually been using “Broken link checker” and it’s been lying to me. I hear that it works great for most people, I guess it just doesn’t like me.

CommentLuv is fun, I love commenting on blogs that have it, it’s like an extra bonus.
