My Goals 4 April 2012

Get my Alexa rank under 100,000. As of April 1st, it’s at 104,802.

Contribute $50.00 to our Roth IRA.

Don’t spend a single cent on dining out this month.

Continue improving Master the Art of Saving. I’ve got a couple things already in mind, you might have noticed the new banner up top. I think it doesn’t look as cheesy as the old one, but I’m a bit biased. I don’t want to pay for a professional one (because I’m into saving money 😉 ), so I keep trying my best.

Have 250 followers on Twitter. As of April 1st, I have 244.

Helping others: Tweet at least 10 great posts I find on other blogs.

Helping others: Retweet at least 10 tweets I like.

Go through grocery reciepts from the last 3 months and see if I can figure out what’s up with our grocery spending.

Cancel magazine subscriptions to avoid automatic renewal at full rates.

Personal Goals:

Lose 7 pounds this month.

Get in at least 15 workouts this month.

Read 3 or more books this month to stay on track for one of my 2012 goals.

Drink at least three 16.9 oz bottles of water every single day this month.

Finish decluttering and organizing our apartment. I’ve been doing crazy good, but there’s still a ton of work left.

My Goals 4 April 2012 — 14 Comments

  1. Great goals, I’m sure you can achieve them. Not sure where I’m at with my goals as I haven’t really sat down to think of what I’m working towards.

  2. Lose 7 lbs? That seems high to me, but I guess it depends on how much you weight.
Tweet one of my post. :)
My Alexa rank is not doing too well. I didn’t have a lot of time to socialize last month when I was a SAHD. Now that I’m back at work, I’ll have more time to comments. Yeah, a bit ironic…

    • 7 pounds is a lot, I’ll just have to work really hard. If you think about it, I only have to burn 24,500 more calories than I take in. :-)

Aside from all the ‘crying baby’ moments, did you enjoy being a stay-at-home-dad last month? It must have been a huge transition.

  3. Looks like you’re right at 100,00 with your Alexa now. You’ll reach that goal in no time. I need to focus on my grocery bill this month too. It was more than I like for it to be last month.

    • Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it under 100k by the end of the month. Good luck working on your grocery spending too, it’s amazing how quickly it can get out of hand.

  4. 7 pounds in a month? That is a pretty solid goal – doable, but certainly solid!

“Drink at least three 16.9 oz bottles of water every single day this month.” – Refilling or buying packages?

    • Buying packages, I know…I don’t mean to be so picky. I’ve tried the filtered water pitchers, tap and facet filters but it just doesn’t taste as good. I’m using able to get the bottled water on sale and most times I have a coupon or they offer a Catalina back, so I’m not spending too much money on bottled water.

  5. Looks like you just made it under 100k alexa. Congrats Jen! Nice work!

I think you might need to rethink the bottled water decision if you are serious about saving money. It may have a slightly different taste, but it’s pretty much the same thing as tap water. If you’re drinking 3 bottles every single day, that’s gotta add up to a lot of money over time. I drink brita water almost exclusively.

    • Thanks, Jeremy. :-)

I know, I’m so bad. I planning on trying to get away from bottled water (again) some time this year. I actually don’t spend much, most times I can get a case of 24 16.9oz bottles for around $2.50. So that means I spend about $10-ish on my bottled water each month, my kid and honey are fine with tap—so I’m the only weirdo wasting money on free resources. 😉

      Still though, 10 bucks a month X 12 months = $120yr. :-(

  6. These are great goals! Thanks for inspiring me. I’ve been doing weekly goals this last month, but I think it’s also good to write down monthly goals and I’ve already started a list for May!
