Net Worth Update~ May 2012

 May 2012 net worth update

Honestly, I’m just happy that it went up this month. I really wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, so I was preparing myself for the worst.

Emergency FundUp $164.27. About half of this increase was due to you guys voting in my last Tell Me How to Spend my Money post, so thanks, it’s a nice increase and I’m much closer to reaching my goal.

Savings: Up $27.48. It’s a good thing I set up the new daily transfers to our Christmas fund, otherwise this would have been really bad. Most of our money has been going to our Emergency fund for now, so it’s okay.

401KUp $157.99. I’m positive that we’ve put more than this into our 401k over the last month. That means the stocks aren’t doing so great. On the bright side, we’re getting our shares at a lower price right now.

Betterment: Down $13.33. We haven’t put any money in here over the last month, so it’s not as bad. Same thing going on here like the 401k, hopefully it’ll jump up again soon.

Roth IRA: Up $50.00. I’m just happy that I’m still putting 50 bucks in here every month. I’ve been considering just sending $25.00 to our Roth IRA each paycheck. It would pretty much have the same effect, except we would be contributing an extra $25.00 in the 3 paycheck months. Either that, or I need to start increasing the monthly amount soon.

Pirates GoldNo change. :-(

Car: Up $219.00. Apparently this is an up month, not that it really matters.

Evil Credit CardNo change. :-) I had forgotten to post part 11 in the Life of the Evil Credit Card series, so I finally did it the other day (way late). So there’s still another update to come, again it’s really late.

So, how did your Net Worth turn out this month? Have you done it yet???

  1. + $605.41? Looks good to me! Without the credit card that should go up a bit faster, too.

  2. Nice work!! How in the world did the value of the car go up? Is that even possible? Maybe you filled it up with a few extra tanks of gas?

    • Haha, that’s a good one. I don’t really understand why it goes up and down in value all the time, I use Kelly Blue Book to get the numbers. :-)

    • Yep, those are gold dollars. My dad was giving them to me for a while, not sure why he stopped. I know that you used to be able to get them from postage machines (as change) and some banks had them. :-)

  3. I’ve seen a lot of PF articles lately about how folks are factoring their vehicles into their net worth – really I never even considered it! My car sometimes feels more like a liability than an asset, although these days, so does my house!

    • I had started because I saw everybody else doing it. Then I realized that if $hit hit the fan, I could sell it and get cash. It does seem like more of a liability though. :-)

  4. Up is up, so that’s good news. I’m near the end of my debt snowball so my liabilities are decreasing my almost $2000 a month. Three more months until everything (minus house) is paid off.
